ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Collage is a bottomless source of experimentation and learning with infinite variables. Our main focus will be on creating a technical basis upon which you’ll create new collage pieces from which you’ll understand and construct your own process.
The workshop is structured around 3 basic exercises through which we’ll work not only on the technical aspects of collage; from cutting and constructing, to finishing and presenting it, but we’ll address the pros and cons of different glues, types of paper, cutting techniques and the creative process that is singular to the collage technique and how it operates in each of us – this is where the gold lies.
All materials needed for the workshop will be provided; multiple books and other sources of material with diverse subjects, scissors, cutting knifes, stick glue and finishing tools.
› INGRID BITTAR started working with collage, a technique through which she developed and matured key aspects of her work, such as domestic and family lives in 2012. By 2014 her work became a permanent addition to Rio’s Museum of Modern Art. Since then her work has been included in multiple exhibitions between Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Berlin. In 2015 her production unfolded to embroidery, in 2017 to watercolour and found objects and in 2018 to crochet. While the subsequent techniques were chosen rationally, collage remains a compass rooted in her gut feelings.
